TAKE CONTROL OF YOUR HEALTH

Peggy Day is a fabulous senior!!!  She feels great, has a seriously positive attitude and wakes up every morning saying, “I’m responsible for my health today”.   If you spend just 5 minutes with her, I promise you, her enthusiasm and no-nonsense way she deals with life will rub off on you.  Peggy has challenged herself to walk around the world.  This is no small feat, especially when you consider that a mere 15 years ago she was a “self-identified work-a-holic” who was 50 pounds over weight and of very ill health.  On March 28t

h, 1992 Peggy drove herself to the hospital one night while suffering from a TIA (small stroke).  She admits that her daily routine consisted of working well past midnight, regularly eating Kentucky Fried Chicken at her desk, little to no vegetable consumption and no form of exercise.  A recipe for disaster and that is what she got.

Peggy refused to become a victim of her rituals and routines and decided shortly after that dreadful night to start the “slow change toward better health”.  Peggy admits that one evening was the “turning point”.  She realized that if she didn’t change her life she wasn’t going to live a very long life and the life she had remaining would be one of poor health.

Peggy completed her walk iat the Metuchen Branch YMCA last Thursday, January 25th!  It took her 18 years and she has every mile recorded and all of the sneakers she walked in over the years.

CONGRATULATIONS PEGGY DAY!
