Each year, the YMCA chooses four young adult employees who exemplify the core values of the YMCA: caring, honesty, respect and responsibility, in their jobs and everyday lives.

MEET GIOVANNI SPATARO
, WINNER OF THE SOUTH AMBOY YMCA MALINOWSKI AWARD!
Gio Spataro is the recipient of the Malinowski award at the South Amboy YMCA. He has worked at the Y since he was 17 years old, holding many different positions including Membership, After School Care Counselor, Volleyball and Baseball Instructor, Security, Guitar Instructor and most recently, obtaining his Personal Training certification. He exemplifies the four core values of the Y and has proven to be a wonderful asset to the organization.

MEET JILLIAN DELA CRUZ
, WINNER OF THE METUCHEN YMCA MALINOWSKI AWARD!
The winner of the Malinowski award at the Metuchen YMCA is Jillian Dela Cruz. Jillian has been swimming at the Y for 16 years, eventually joining the MEY swim team in 2003. She used her skills to work as a lifeguard and then a swim instructor at the Y. She has a passion for teaching children how to succeed in the water. Jillian’s work with youth, her passion for her sport and her dedication to the Y reflects the core values that the Y seeks in an employee.

MEET SAM MARSHALL, WINNER OF THE EDISON YMCA MALINOWSKI AWARD!
Sam Marshall is the winner of the Malinowski award at the Edison YMCA. Sam began his career two years ago as a Wellness staff member, but his passion for helping others led him to pursue a Personal Training certification. His colleagues respect and admire his tenacity to do his best for the community. Many people look forward to seeing Sam’s smile when they walk into the Fitness Center each day. He epitomizes the meaning of a valued employee and is an asset to the Edison community and the YMCA.

MEET SAMANTHA BRANNIGAN
, WINNER OF THE CHILD CARE SERVICES MALINOWSKI AWARD!
Samantha Brannigan is the winner of the Malinowski award for Child Care Services. Sam started as a Teacher’s Assistant at the Woodbridge Early Learning Center Preschool classroom in 2015 and worked her way up to become the Administrative Assistant for the program. Her determination, hard work and outstanding skills have proven to be an invaluable asset to the program, serving as a role model that exemplifies the attributes of a Y employee.
