Our teen enrichment classes are a terrific way for your teen to explore their special interests, develop their talents, and have fun! Learn about our exciting opportunities below.
Scratch Level 1 (Ages 8-16 years)
"SCRATCH "is programming language and an online community where children can program and share interactive media such as stories, games and animation with people from all over the world. As children create with Scratch, they learn to think creatively, work collaboratively, and reason systematically. Scratch is designed and maintained by the Lifelong Kindergarten Group at the MIT Media Lab.
One hour class, once a week

Scratch Level 1 (Ages 8-16)
Children will learn mathematical and computational ideas that are built into the Scratch experience. As students create programs in Scratch, they learn core computational concepts such as iteration and conditionals. They also gain an understanding of important mathematical concepts such as coordinates, variables, and random numbers. This project-design process combines many of the 21st century learning skills that will be critical to success in the future: thinking creatively, communicating clearly, analyzing systematically, collaborating effectively, designing interactively, learning continuously.
Scratch Level 2 (Ages 8-16)
Scratch Level 2 expands the students ability to develop more complex games, and creative works. Some of the new items and concepts that will be covered include new coding blocks such as video-sensing blocks, applying perspective to add realism to Scratch projects, adding gravity to moving objects, new and exciting visual effects, and developing projects that use motion sensing.
Several of the projects we will be teaching in Scratch Level 2 include Space Invaders, Jumper, Fireworks Displays, and using a webcam to move objects in a Scratch game with your hands.
