  • Assistant Aquatic Director

    POSITION SUMMARY:

     

    Under the direction of the Aquatic Director, assist in promoting all aquatic programs, maintain proper health and safety standards, assist with supervising lifeguards and instructors, and assist in the general supervision of the aquatic facilities both within the facility and outdoor seasonal facilities, as assigned.  A minimum of 50% of incumbent’s time will be hands-on instructing, guarding and supervising.  The incumbent must have the ability to model the mission of the YMCA, and carry it out in a professional manner.  The emphasis of this position will be placed on the development and supervision of all non-competitive swim programs for all ages and to ensure quality aquatic programs are delivered into the community.

     

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    1. To assist Director in developing a well-rounded, quality aquatic swim instruction program for all ages and levels and ensure that all aquatic facilities are being utilized their maximum potential.
    2. Ensure that all aquatic programs are consistent with the YMCA’s mission and meet the objectives that stress good sportsmanship and values.
    3. Assist in overseeing and maintaining the pool cleaning schedule for aquatic facilities as assigned, this can include outdoor seasonal facilities as well.
    4. Opening, closing and oversight of outdoor facilities as assigned.
    1. Coordinate trainings for safety and risk management, and maintain training records.
    2. In cooperation with the Aquatic Director, provide training and reviews for all staff and volunteers through personal consultations, conferences, special courses and clinics that relate to all areas of the aquatic department and programs.
    3. Share direct responsibility for the safety and well being of all participants through qualified instructors and lifeguards with the Aquatic Director.
    4. Coordinate swimming instructions within the guidelines and best practices the National YMCA Aquatic Program and any other cooperating organization.
    5. Maintain a professional appearance and keep an orderly pool deck and office.
    6. Attend all assigned staff meetings and staff development trainings.
    7. Assist in preparation of the annual budget and share a responsibility with the Aquatic Director for income and expenses of approved budget.
    8. Represent the Y in a positive image and maintain positive, productive relationships with external organizations and groups as appropriate.
    9. Conduct performance evaluations on an annual basis for all staff reporting to you under the leadership of the Director.
    10. Provide consistent leadership and coaching to staff.
    11. Work closely with the Aquatic Director to maintain a cohesive, well-developed, highly trained staff team.
    12. Work closely with the Aquatic Director to identify aquatic areas of growth and development.
    13. Complete all administrative paperwork in an efficient, accurate and timely fashion.
    14. Follow the house rules and expect the same from staff.
    15. Promote a “family and member friendly environment”.

     

    REQUIREMENTS:

    1. The incumbent must be at least 21 years of age and have a minimum of 2 years supervisory experience with an emphasis on scheduling multiple pools and locations.
    2. The incumbent must be currently certified in First Aid, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, Lifeguarding, O2, and AED. Lifeguard Trainer, WSI or YSI recommended at time of hire or secured within one year.
    3. Must have the ability to conduct, record and analyze in-services and drills to ensure all guards skills are reviewed consistently and remain strong.
    4. The incumbent must have experience in supervising and evaluating employees and arranging work schedules.
    5. Skills in public relations, as well as good written and verbal communication skills are required. 
    6. Ability to develop positive relationships with members, volunteers and staff are essential.
    7. Incumbent must have ability to assist with hiring, training and supervising swim instructors and other aquatic staff.
    8. Ability to support and act on behalf of the Aquatic Director in their absence.

     

    PHYSICAL REQURIEMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS:

     

    Sufficient strength and skill technique to control and rescue struggling adult swimmers, lifting, standing, walking, bending, reaching, pulling, pushing, concentration, attention and focus to one area for extended periods of time, warm weather outdoor work, average to warm in-door and out-door pool heat and humidity.

  • Child Care Director

    POSITION SUMMARY:

     

    The Child Care Director is responsible for the total operation of the child care center, off-site programs and Child Watch to which s/he is assigned.  S/he will use the philosophy of the YMCA mission, licensing requirements and best practices, the YMCA Strategic Plan and the four-core values (honesty, caring, respect and responsibility) to develop and implement a program of the highest quality to ensure every child has an opportunity to develop to their fullest potential and every family finds value and security in having their families as part of the YMCA child care family.

    SALARY: $40,000-$45,000 DOE

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

     

    1. Ensure the center complies with the code for all state and local governing agencies; including bureau of licensing, fire and health departments at all times.
    2. Have the ability to identify child abuse/neglect and act in accordance with YMCA, state and local guidelines.
    3. Ensure all staff are trained on child abuse/neglect and clearly understand the process for reporting concerns and their responsibility to report concerns.
    4. Ensure all health and safety guidelines are followed at all times within all program locations and programs.
    5. Oversee program development, staff, budget, financial control, enrollment and the facility.
    6. Supervise paid and volunteer staff of the Center. (Including:  a:  Schedule assignments of paid personnel; b:  Plan and conduct regular and called meetings of the Center staff; c:  Interpret, communicate and implement policies of the Center to the staff.
    7. Conduct staff meetings and staff training sessions to encourage continuing education.  
    8. Maintain open communication with all staff members, families and peers.
    9. Make necessary staffing decisions to ensure quality childcare.
    10. Develop a program consistent with the standards of developmentally appropriate practices, as well as standards set forth by the National YMCA.  Ensuring that the program is consistent with the overall philosophy of the Center and the YMCA Strategic Plan.
    11. Plan enrollment, parent conferences, and parent education, as well as encouraging parental involvement.
    12. Enroll children and inform parents of the fees to be paid by individual families in accordance with the center policy.
    13. Work closely with member services team to ensure the proper collection of tuition and fees.
    14. Maintain current first aid certification and ensure center staff’s certification are up-to-date.
    15. Supervise classroom record keeping; keeping records needed for planning, evaluation of the program and individual child development.  Keep such administrative records as required by the State of New Jersey.
    16. Purchasing day to day supplies as necessary for the operation of the Center.
    17. Keep abreast of current trends in Early Childhood Education.
    18. Serve as a link to and promote the networking of other YMCA staff and programs within the community and other YMCA programs.
    19. Responsible for meeting annually with the Board of Directors to present financial reports.
    20. Maintain open communication with the Senior Director of Child Care Services and/ other YMCA professional staff.
    21. Act as a resource for all staff.
    22. Have a clear understanding of and exemplify the four core values.
    23. Review and submit payroll, any paper timesheets and other necessary paperwork on a timely basis to the Association Office.
    24. Communication and publicity of center to public.

     

    REQUIREMENTS:

    BA or BS in early childhood education, child development, or its equivalent[ES1] .

    One or more courses in program administration.

    Three years experience as a lead teacher in a child care/preschool program.

    Some prior staff supervision experience.

    Ability to work as part of a team.

    Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

    Excellent driving record and the ability to manage own transportation to and from various locations.

Part Time Positions
  • Bus Driver

    POSITION SUMMARY:     

     

    Under the supervision and guidance of the Program Director, Camp Director and/or Branch Director of Operations the driver is responsible for the safety of all passengers and the vehicle at all times.  The School Bus Driver must display personal characteristics that exemplify the four core values of the YMCA; caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.

     

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

     

    1. Ensure the safety of all passengers in bus.
    2. Arrive on time (approximately 5 minutes prior to pick-up) at scheduled centers.
    3. Confirm delayed openings and school closings with YMCA personnel (or as indicated on local radio station).
    4. Bus is to be used only for transportation of YMCA participants unless authorized by supervisor.
    5. Any ticket, moving violation, or incident(s) that affects your driving status, must be reported to the Human Resource Director and Executive Director immediately.
    6. Be a positive, desirable role model for children and parents.
    7. Knowledge of emergency procedures and the ability to implement them if need be.
    8. Must report all accidents/incidents to immediate supervisor as soon as possible, as well as complete the accident/incident report and submit it.
    9. Ensure that all passengers and driver are wearing seatbelts at all times.
    10. Maintain and submit Vehicle Destination Logs, Gas Logs, and Mileage Logs according to YMCA procedures.
    11. Perform a pre-trip inspection checking bus for safety hazards, etc,. before using a bus.
    12. Ensure your bus has gas and the inside is kept orderly (return all lost and found to appropriate department at end of run).
    13. Smoking, eating, and drinking while driving the bus is prohibited.
    14. Drive with extreme courtesy.The bus represents the Metuchen-Edison YMCA
    15. Prepare and submit Vehicle Maintenance Request forms immediately upon detection of bus defect or possible defect, address any major cleaning issues.
    16. Assist children getting on and off bus.
    17. Drivers must walk to the back of the bus and back to the front at the end of the bus run to ensure all children have safely gotten off of the bus.
    18. Driver must have in their possession operational cell phone (provided by YMCA) and have it turned on. Always pull off the road to operate phone.
    19. Attend mandatory staff meetings and YMCA training sessions.
    20. Adhere to “House Rules” and exemplify the four core character values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.
    21. Accurately complete time sheets on a daily basis, signing at the end of the week..
    22. Communicate with supervisor any issues, concerns surrounding the transportation of passengers and or the bus.

  • Camp Counselor

    Job Description   

    Under the leadership and supervision of Camp Leadership, will provide guidance and secure safety for all of the children in the Summer Camp programs. The Camp Counselor will implement programs designed and monitored by Camp Leadership that ensure every child has the ability to reach their fullest potential and incorporate the four core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.

    Qualifications: 

    • Monday-Friday
    • flexible hours between 7 am and7pm
    • Must be 18 years old
    • Prior child care/camp experience preferred
    • Ability to work in outdoor, summer weather
    • CPR/First Aid Certified or able to obtain certification
    • Must be dependable and a positive role model, with availability to work end of June through end of August, as needed.
    • Carry out curriculum plans and daily activities for children

    Essential Functions:

    • Oversee the safety and location of all children in the camp area at all times.
    • Provide a caring, safe, nurturing environment that is welcoming to all children and their family.
    • Actively participate with children in activities.
    • Ensure the cleanliness of all toys, equipment and supplies in the camp area are thoroughly cleaned according to policy and procedure.
    • Support and execute all procedures as directed.
    • Communicate on an on-going basis with supervisor.
    • Adhere to all current camp policies and protocols including COVID-19 safety as updated.
    • Attend all mandatory meetings.

  • Group Exercise Instructors

We are looking for an experienced Yoga instructor to join our Wellness Staff, who are dedicated to building our community by improving the nation's health and well-being. Experience with older adults and those with health and mobility restrictions a plus.

  • Lifeguard

    POSITION SUMMARY:     

    Under the supervision of the Aquatic Director/Assistant Aquatic Director or Pool Manager, the lifeguards will be responsible for the safety of all members during the hours of pool operation by being on deck, actively patrolling the pool area, constantly remaining alert and scanning, enforcing all pool rules, and other duties as assigned by the Director, Assistant Director or Pool Manager.

     

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    • Ensure safety of members and patrons and prevent injuries by actively guarding and supervising of pools by active scanning and patrolling.
    • Each YMCA staff member is required to participate in an enhanced cleaning program which supervisors will articulate the exact process as well as product used to clean and what PPE will be required to be worn.
    • Ensure the pool is safe and staffing is within YMCA standards when taking responsibility for the pool and when exiting off of duty.
    • Ensure your personal protective (rescue breather, gloves, fanny pack) is all in good working order and accessible per safety standards.
    • Have a complete understanding of, and be familiar with all emergency procedures, buzzers, buttons and YMCA standards, operations and protocols.
    • Ensure security of pool when leaving the pool area – no pool is ever left unguarded for any reason, at any time.Pool and pool deck must be vacated by all when guard must leave pool area.
    • React immediately to signs of individuals in distress.
    • Administer first aid to victims using OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens Universal PrecautionsProvide immediate care to sustain life until EMS arrives.
    • Complete all incident and save reports at time of incident, including all pertinent information.Reports must be legible and state the facts as witnessed by the guard.
    • Maintain all aquatic standards and rules.Ensure no distractions or interference with the ability to hear or see signs of distress.
    • Adherence to all bathing code regulations, standards and safety measures.
    • Must keep all certifications current and have the ability to provide documentation of certifications at all times when requested.
    • Wear proper YMCA professional appearance policy attire as well as have all proper safety equipment (whistle, tube, fanny pack, etc) on persons at all time.
    • Participate as part of the Aquatic Team in providing a safe and enjoyable, member friendly environment.
    • Have the ability to perform a pool reading and if assigned to take a reading, ensure all readings are documented and clearly entered into the pool reading log.Any readings outside of the normal range must be reported to the Aquatic Director or designed Certified Pool Operator.
    • Respect coworkers by arriving on time and in accordance with scheduled hours.
    • Communicate all pool rules and policies in a friendly but firm manner.Ultimately the pool is the lifeguard’s responsibility.

     

    REQUIREMENTS:

    • A minimum of 16 years of age.
    • Current lifesavings, First-Aid, CRP/AED and Oxygen certification.
    • Mature and responsible who can react without hesitation in a professional manner.
    • Ability to enforce all pool rules fairly, effectively in a positive manner.
    • Ability to use water testing kit and be part of the team accurately reflecting results.
    • Ability to see and hear individuals and alarms in pool/pool area
    • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.

  • Swim Instructor

    Job Description   

    Under the direction of the Aquatic Director/Assistant Aquatic Director or assigned supervisor, the Swim Instructor will assure the safety, well-being and enjoyment of all class participants in his/her class.  The Instructor is responsible for teaching the strokes by instructing, demonstrating, and correcting the individual so they may learn to the best of their ability.  Swim instructors should make and keep swimming a fun activity, while bearing in mind that safety can never be compromised and the swim instruction guidelines must be adhered to.

     

     

    Qualifications: 

    • Must be a minimum of 16 years of age. Exceptions made for an individual with a strong aquatic background.
    • Must have knowledge & skills of all 4 strokes.
    • Must attend all in-house workshops.
    • CPR & First Aid is suggested.

    POSITION SUMMARY:   

     

    Under the direction and with the support of the Senior Swim Team Coach, the Assistant Swim Team Coach will coach and mentor the assigned Swim Team group utilizing a positive, proactive coaching approach with the emphasis being on personal development and team work.

     

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:        

     

    • Assist the Senior Swim Team Coach in all aspects of coaching assigned group(s).
    • Ensure all team members are coached using positive coaching and mentoring skills.
    • Implement a practice and training routine that supports the goals of the swimmers and team, following the guidance and direction of the Senior Swim Team Coach.
    • Ensure all practice and meet times are communicated clearly and the schedules are followed.
    • Attend swim team practices, meets and events as required, often will take place in the evenings and weekends.
    • Instill a culture of safety, ensuring all child abuse prevention policies, as well as the Safe Sports Act requirements are strictly adhered to.
    • Elevate all concerns to the Senior Swim Team Coach or Senior Aquatic Director immediately.
    • Communicate in a positive, professional manner at all times.
    • Ensure the four core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsivity are delivered at present at all times.
    • Support the Senior Swim Team Coach and/or Head Swim Team Coach with maintaining a clean pool and locker room areas during the swim team program times.
    • Proactively promote the MEWSA swim team.

  • Assistant Teacher-multiple positions
    POSITION SUMMARY: The Assistant Teacher will work with a small group of children under the coaching and supervision of a professional staff to ensure the care, safety and well being of the children assigned to her/his group. S/he will use the philosophy of the YMCA mission and the four core values (caring, honesty, respect and responsibility) to deliver and implement a program of the highest quality where every child has the opportunity to reach their fullest potential.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
    1. Assist in supervising the group of children to which she/he is assigned (during classroom experience, during outdoor playground activities and while off the Center grounds).
    2. Become involved with the children in group play and outside activities.
    3. Assist with the nap period duties including, but not limited to; setting out and replacing cots/mats/cribs; settling the children, i.e., rubbing backs, reading stories.
    4. Understand & assist the teacher in implementing the curriculum and it’s assessment system.
    5. Have an ability to identify child abuse and have a clear understanding of reporting requirements and responsibilities.
    6. Be responsible for going into the pool to assist swim instructors and maintain staff:child ratio during swim lessons/activities.
    7. Utilize any specific abilities or talents that can enrich the children’s day care experience.

    POSITION SUMMARY: The Lead Teacher, under the direction and coaching of the Center Director will be responsible for the class of children to which s/he has been assigned. S/he will be responsible for the planning and implementation of the curriculum, the health and safety of the children, communication with the parents and supervision of support staff.   • Lifeguard

    POSITION SUMMARY:     

    Under the supervision of the Aquatic Director/Assistant Aquatic Director or Pool Manager, the lifeguards will be responsible for the safety of all members during the hours of pool operation by being on deck, actively patrolling the pool area, constantly remaining alert and scanning, enforcing all pool rules, and other duties as assigned by the Director, Assistant Director or Pool Manager.

     

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    • Ensure safety of members and patrons and prevent injuries by actively guarding and supervising of pools by active scanning and patrolling.
    • Each YMCA staff member is required to participate in an enhanced cleaning program which supervisors will articulate the exact process as well as product used to clean and what PPE will be required to be worn.
    • Ensure the pool is safe and staffing is within YMCA standards when taking responsibility for the pool and when exiting off of duty.
    • Ensure your personal protective (rescue breather, gloves, fanny pack) is all in good working order and accessible per safety standards.
    • Have a complete understanding of, and be familiar with all emergency procedures, buzzers, buttons and YMCA standards, operations and protocols.
    • Ensure security of pool when leaving the pool area – no pool is ever left unguarded for any reason, at any time.Pool and pool deck must be vacated by all when guard must leave pool area.
    • React immediately to signs of individuals in distress.
    • Administer first aid to victims using OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens Universal PrecautionsProvide immediate care to sustain life until EMS arrives.

    • Maintain all aquatic standards and rules.Ensure no distractions or interference with the ability to hear or see signs of distress.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
    1. Assist in supervising the group of children to which she/he is assigned (during classroom experience, during outdoor playground activities and while off the Center grounds).
    2. Become involved with the children in group play and outside activities.
    3. Assist with the nap period duties including, but not limited to; setting out and replacing cots/mats/cribs; settling the children, i.e., rubbing backs, reading stories.
    4. Understand & assist the teacher in implementing the curriculum and it’s assessment system.
    5. Have an ability to identify child abuse and have a clear understanding of reporting requirements and responsibilities.
    6. Be responsible for going into the pool to assist swim instructors and maintain staff:child ratio during swim lessons/activities.

    10.Be responsible for keeping equipment and materials clean, accessible and in good condition.
    11.Assist the teacher in keeping the classroom organized and neat.
    12.Administer first aid and supervise children’s personal hygiene.
    13.Assist in administration of medication under the direction of the classroom teacher. 14.Assume the responsibilities of the classroom teacher during her absence, with the direction and support of the director.2

  • Bus Driver

    POSITION SUMMARY:     

     

    Under the supervision and guidance of the Program Director, Camp Director and/or Branch Director of Operations the driver is responsible for the safety of all passengers and the vehicle at all times.  The School Bus Driver must display personal characteristics that exemplify the four core values of the YMCA; caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.

     

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

     

    1. Ensure the safety of all passengers in bus.
    2. Arrive on time (approximately 5 minutes prior to pick-up) at scheduled centers.
    3. Confirm delayed openings and school closings with YMCA personnel (or as indicated on local radio station).
    4. Bus is to be used only for transportation of YMCA participants unless authorized by supervisor.
    5. Any ticket, moving violation, or incident(s) that affects your driving status, must be reported to the Human Resource Director and Executive Director immediately.
    6. Be a positive, desirable role model for children and parents.
    7. Knowledge of emergency procedures and the ability to implement them if need be.
    8. Must report all accidents/incidents to immediate supervisor as soon as possible, as well as complete the accident/incident report and submit it.
    9. Ensure that all passengers and driver are wearing seatbelts at all times.
    10. Maintain and submit Vehicle Destination Logs, Gas Logs, and Mileage Logs according to YMCA procedures.
    11. Perform a pre-trip inspection checking bus for safety hazards, etc,. before using a bus.
    12. Ensure your bus has gas and the inside is kept orderly (return all lost and found to appropriate department at end of run).
    13. Smoking, eating, and drinking while driving the bus is prohibited.
    14. Drive with extreme courtesy.The bus represents the Metuchen-Edison YMCA
    15. Prepare and submit Vehicle Maintenance Request forms immediately upon detection of bus defect or possible defect, address any major cleaning issues.
    16. Assist children getting on and off bus.
    17. Drivers must walk to the back of the bus and back to the front at the end of the bus run to ensure all children have safely gotten off of the bus.
    18. Driver must have in their possession operational cell phone (provided by YMCA) and have it turned on. Always pull off the road to operate phone.
    19. Attend mandatory staff meetings and YMCA training sessions.
    20. Adhere to “House Rules” and exemplify the four core character values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.
    21. Accurately complete time sheets on a daily basis, signing at the end of the week..
    22. Communicate with supervisor any issues, concerns surrounding the transportation of passengers and or the bus.

  • School Aged Child Care Counselors-Multiple positions

    POSITION SUMMARY:

    Under the leadership and supervision of the School Age Child Care Director, Child Care Director or Site Director, the School Age Child Care Counselor will provide guidance and secure safety for all of the children in the After School Program.  The School Age Child Care Counselor will implement programs designed and monitored by the  Director that ensure every child has the ability to reach their fullest potential and incorporate the four core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.

     

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    1. Be a role model for children in program, ensuring they have the ability to thrive and grow.
    2. Assist with daily arrivals and dismissals ensuring all attendance records are accurate and notifying the School Age Child Care Director of any discrepancies.
    3. Responsible for equipment and supplies of the program.
    4. On assigned late-nights responsibilities include straightening up the room, locking all cabinets, removing lost & found items, directing parents (when needed) on how to make payment of late fees and returning sign-out sheets and necessary information to office.
    5. Awareness of emergency procedures and be able to implement quickly and safely as necessary.
    6. Report all accidents/incidents to supervisor ASAP and prepare accident form accurately and completely and submit to supervisor.
    7. Supervise and interact with children during activities both indoors and outside, while on trips, during walks, playing on playground, lunch time, in pool area,etc., having complete knowledge of where children are at all times.
    8. Implement activities for group including setting up of activities and materials necessary for program implementation.
    9. Participate with enthusiasm and motivate all children in group while embracing the four core values.
    10. Discipline children in an appropriate manner when necessary using the positive discipline guidelines.
    11. Meet, greet, discuss and promote program content and children with parents in a manner which reflects “Family Friendly” YMCA.

    14. Utilize the time and attendance system assigned to ensure time worked each day is recorded accurately.

  • Site Supervisor

    POSITION SUMMARY:

     

    Under the direction of the Senior Child Care Director, the Site Coordinator/Supervisor is responsible for the management and supervision of a specific program site, either as the primary person on site or in tandem with a Senior Child Care Director.  He/she will be responsible for supervise staff, set up daily schedules, serve a liaison with YMCA parents, and outside organizations, and ensure all polices, regulations and standards of the Centers are met. 

     

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (all or a part of the following may apply depending on the site supervising):  

     

    • Report to work during scheduled hours, accurately reflect time worked on the time management system provided.
    • Adhere to all Office of Licensing, Department of Health and Association requirements, as well as YMCA of the USA HEPA Standards.
    • Ensure a completed registration form, complete and up-to-date emergency information form, a current medical form and up-to-date pick-up authorization form is on file for each child.
    • Coach staff in performing their job according to their job descriptions.
    • Conduct a monthly staff meeting for staff communication.Staff meeting minutes are taken and submitted to the Association Office.
    • Ensure that all staff re adequately supervising their groups at all times, including activities, bathroom, snacks, etc.
    • Conduct fire drills at least once a month and maintain an accurate log.
    • Submit completed attendance sheets the last day of the month.
    • Order/purchase supplies as needed while adhering to set budget.
    • Ensure all staff have access to First Aid supplies at all times and are following correct First Aid procedures.
    • Maintain current CPR/First Aid certification and ensure staff also have current CPR/First Aid certifications.
    • Ensure staff are adhering to the Personal Appearance Policy, are wearing their proper nametags and that their attire is appropriate for activities they are leading.
    • Assist staff during activities when necessary.
    • Ensure Positive Discipline and redirection is used when issues occur, keeping an open communication with parents.
    • Ensure the facility is neat and clean and the environment is comfortable and appropriate for children.
    • Ensure closing procedures of cleaning equipment is followed.
    • Ensure the programs and activities are being extended within the center according to Creative Curriculum.
    • Attend Child Care Quality Team, Operations and other meting as deemed necessary by the Senior Child Care Director or CEO.

  • Outdoor Pool Lifeguards

    Seasonal lifeguards wanted for a beautiful 25 meter - 6 lane pool, to provide a safe swimming environment for all guests and campers.  Lifeguard Certification Course offered. Apply today and spend your summer poolside making a difference in our community.  Lifeguards needed as early as May 4 / 5 for Memorial Day weekend. Year round opportunities also available.

    Qualifications:

    • American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification Course offered, must compete course and pass lifeguard test.  
    • Current CPR and First Aid Certification
    • Prior lifeguard experience is preferred
    • Willing to be outdoors for prolonged periods
    • Must be a minimum of 16 years of age

    Responsibilities include:

    • Arrive at designated time and dressed in appropriate aquatic attire
    • Perform safety checks of equipment, including first aid kits, phones, rescue tubes, pool equipment. 
    • Enforce all pool rules in a firm, but tactful manner
    • Work as part of the aquatic guarding team in an effective and efficient fashion to ensure the overall safety of the pool and pool area
    • Scan according to proper procedures and guard from designated areas and guard chairs
    • Interact with pool members and guests in a member friendly manner

    Status: part time, seasonal

    Grace Early Learning Center is looking for an Assistant Teacher to join our staff in providing quality programs for the children and families we serve in our community.

    The Assistant Teacher will support our Lead Teachers in various classrooms ranging in ages from 12 months to 5 years.

    Responsibilities:

    • Assist in supervising childrenin class, group play and outside activities
    • Assist with nap period duties and food service
    • Provide a clean, neat and organized classroom
    • Ability to identify child abuse
    • Assume responsibilities of Lead Teacher during her absence

    Qualifications:

    • Age 18 and above
    • Early Childhood Education a plus
    • One year experience in a child care environment

  • Assistant Teacher

    The Teacher Assistant will lend support to the Teacher in the Preschool Program at our Harborview Early Learning Center.  This is a part-time position with flexible hours between 7:45 - 1:00 pm and 3:00 - 5:45 pm, making an ideal opportunity.  The incumbent will be working to inspire, care for and ensure every child has the opportunity to reach their personal best!  The incumbent will be working with ages 2 1/2 - 5.  

    The incumbent must be a minimum of age 18 years old, previous child care experience and knowledge of Creative Curriculum, ECERS-3, Bilingual in Spanish and English are all a plus, but we're happy to train the right candidate who has a passion for education and a willingness to learn

    Harborview Early Learning Center is seeking a Preschool Teacher in a Community Provider Program for the Perth Amboy BOE State Funded Preschool Program. The Lead Teacher will supervise and work with a Paraprofessional in a classroom of 15 children ages 3-5 years old. School year runs from March 12 - June 30, 2021.
